Preventive Care
At Dental Plus, our preventive care program goes well beyond routine cleanings and cavity prevention. We also educate our patients as to the most effective oral hygiene habits and the best dental practices and techniques available today. Most importantly, we encourage our patients to ask questions in order to become informed participants when it’s time to consider treatment options.
Our doctors and hygienists help patients understand exactly what their oral health issues are, and what might happen if suggested treatment plans are not followed. Children are taught proper brushing and flossing techniques by our pediatric staff as the very first steps in a lifetime of dental health. We also encourage patients who smoke to quit, providing advice and support as they work to give up this difficult habit.
Restorative Dentistry
Restoring the form, function and beauty of your teeth and smile is what restorative dentistry is all about. Tooth-colored fillings, porcelain crowns, fixed and removable bridges, dentures and tooth implants are all part of the restorative process. If you’re like most patients, and have fillings, you’ve already had some basic restorative dentistry done.
Restorative dentistry often has a cosmetic aspect to it, as once teeth are restored to their optimum form and function, a patient often takes a renewed interest in the esthetics of his or her smile. That’s where dental procedures such as bleaching, veneers and bonding come in – to create a “star-quality” smile that can boost your confidence, and sometimes even change your life.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Your smile is often the first thing people notice when they meet you. And now, thanks to recent advances in cosmetic dentistry, anyone’s smile can be improved. How do you think celebrities get those picture-perfect smiles? They take advantage of a variety of cosmetic dentistry options, including whitening procedures, bonding, porcelain veneers and more.
Endodontic Therapy (root canal)
Endodontic therapy involves a procedure commonly known as a root canal, and is necessary when the soft inner core of a tooth is damaged by decay or trauma. The good thing about endodontic therapy is that it can help a patient maintain a tooth that, not too many years ago, would have been extracted.
Periodontal Care
Periodontal involves eliminating infection around the teeth and correcting abnormalities of the gums and supporting bone. Early identification and proper treatment of these conditions are critical as periodontal disease can easily lead to significant oral problems, loss of teeth and even the increased risk of heart attack and stroke..
Oral Surgery
Oral surgery involves the extraction of teeth, such as wisdom teeth; the diagnosis of oral abnormalities and pathology; and the insertion of implants. Since we know that patients experience a degree of discomfort or anxiety prior to certain types of oral surgery procedures, along with local anesthetics we administer IV sedation and general anesthetics, as required.
Implant Dentistry
Dental implants are now the treatment of choice for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. Implants look, feel and function like natural teeth, while helping to preserve the natural contours of a patient’s face. Not everyone is a candidate for an implant but, if you are, we think it’s the next best thing to a patient’s original tooth.
Sedation Dentistry
For some people sedation dentistry, also known as sleep dentistry, is the difference between going to the dentist and not going to the dentist. If you experience excessive anxiety prior to a dental visit, sedation dentistry may be the answer for you. Best of all, once you’ve experienced sedation dentistry, you’ll never be afraid to go to the dentist again.
Orthodontics / Braces
Orthodontics involves the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental "malocclusions," or uneven bite. Orthodontists are skilled in the design and application of corrective orthodontic treatment to bring their patients’ teeth and jaws back into proper alignment. In the past, children were the prime recipients of orthodontic care. However, with recent advances in terms of appearance – such as Invisalign braces – and treatment time, more adults are opting for braces than ever before.
TMJ/Headaches
When your teeth don’t fit together properly, a condition called “malocclusion,” or when you habitually grind your teeth or clench your jaw, problems can occur with your temporomandibular joints. Two of these joints (one on each side of your head, located just in front of your ears) connect your lower jaw to your skull. The abbreviation "TMJ" refers to this joint but is also often used to refer to disorders associated with this region.
